Business: My Problems are Yours

How do I say this. My problems are your problems, and your problems are likely mine as well because we share more in common than we do in difference. I was spurred to write this during a conversation regarding customer feedback.

I laughed. If we as ‘consumers’, knew what we wanted, well, I’d be one of the founding members of the Uber engineering team. Dodged a bullet there.

Or I’d be asking for a faster horse if I lived when Ford Motor Companies was just getting going.

“No car, just a faster horse please”

Who has watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? It’s called gut instinct and fun.

The point isn’t to take squat on a customer feedback meeting, and ironically we’re using Mixpanel & Twilio, so shoutout to them.

It’s more about ideas and chasing our dreams.

It is more than likely that your dream is not too different than dreams that I’ve had.

Ever had a girl coming over? So you rush to the grocery store, buy ingredients, start cooking and then go “shit”, I wish I bought a candle instead of dealing with completely (non) romantic fluorescent lighting. Enter Couple Candles, Inc.

I would say every product or company worth its name started by solving a problem that the founders themselves ran into.

I started to think about why we started Unity Central — it was ultimately for ourselves, and improving the way we interacted with our data, so we could make smarter decisions, faster.

Uber — simplifying getting from a to b.

Slack — a communication channel(s) between various guilds in video games, specifically, World of Warcraft! Look at it now, or Discord et al.

Tesla — Gas is too expensive and Prius’ are too boring so let’s create an in between, that speaks to people with style. You may not think you have style, but you do.

DollarShaveClub — buying razors sucks so why not just have them delivered to your house every week?

Apple — software experience generally sucks, but Apple dedicates itself to security, experience and quality.

Proper Cloth — buying good clothing for special occasions is a pain, and anyone with a discerning eye can tell if your blazer is off the rack — so Proper Cloth made it seamless to get bespoke, tailor-made items, sizing, provenance easy as American pie.

White Claw — everyone is trying to rid themselves of the pounds they put on during the midst of covid — so white claw came out with an alcoholic beverage that is not only fashionable, but brass tacks, doesn’t give you a beer belly. Many other companies would follow in their footsteps.

Believe in yourself and may the sun shine warm upon your face!

Huge shoutout to Boardwalktech, Inc.& Unity Central for making this symbiosis possible.

Cheers,

Roh Krishnan
